Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I or Research Associate -II to join an exciting initiative to develop gene editing approaches for the treatment of serious diseases. The successful candidate will join the Cellular Biology team within our Editing Technologies group, focusing on cell line engineering for the development of novel gene-editing technologies to support our in vivo and ex vivo therapeutic programs. The successful candidate will be integral to advancing our gene editing platform for CRISPR Therapeutics' cell and gene therapy programs.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine cell culture of adherent and suspension cell lines to support cell line engineering
- Engineer mammalian cells by introducing plasmid DNA, mRNA, gRNA and Cas9 RNP by appropriate methods, including cationic lipid-based transfection and electroporation
- Perform standard molecular biology techniques including DNA extraction, RNA extraction, and PCR
- Apply basic biochemical and immunological techniques, including protein extraction, protein gel electrophoresis, conventional and capillary western blotting, ELISA, and flow cytometry
- Maintain detailed records and tracking of engineered cell line production and inventory
- Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners by written reports and oral presentations
- Work under the direction of a Research Scientist and across other platform technology and therapeutic groups to achieve desired goals
Additional Responsibilities for Research Associate II
- Perform routine molecular biology techniques using the engineered cell lines to support development of new next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays for sequence determination, editing efficiency analysis, and off-target assessment
Minimum Qualifications: Research Associate I
BS in life sciences or related discipline with 1+ years of relevant research experience OR MS in life sciences or related discipline
- Proficiency with mammalian cell culture techniques including maintenance of adherent and suspension cell lines
- Experience with basic molecular biology techniques (isolation and handling of DNA and RNA, PCR, gel electrophoresis)
- Working knowledge of basic biochemical techniques (protein extraction, western blotting, ELISA)
- Superior attention to detail and organization skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers and effectively work in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications: Research Associate I
- Experience with culturing primary cells
- Experience with lentiviral transduction
- Working knowledge / direct experience with CRISPR/Cas gene editing in mammalian cells
- Experience with flow cytometry and FACS for mammalian cells
- Experience with molecular cloning techniques
- Familiarity with DNA cloning software (e.g., Geneious, Snapgene, or similar)
Minimum Qualifications: Research Associate II
BS in life sciences or related discipline with 2+ years of highly relevant research experience OR MS in life sciences or related discipline with a minimum of 1 years of highly relevant research experience
- Proficiency with mammalian cell culture techniques including maintenance of adherent and suspension cell lines, transfection, cell counting, and standard cellular assays
- Expertise in basic molecular biology techniques (isolation and handling of DNA and RNA, PCR, ddPCR, gel electrophoresis, oligonucleotide primer design)
- Experience with routine biochemical and immunological methods (protein extraction, western blotting, flow cytometry, ELISA)
- Working knowledge / direct experience with CRISPR/Cas gene editing in mammalian cells
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers and effectively work in a team-oriented environment
- Superior attention to detail and organization skill
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications: Research Associate II
- Experience with culturing primary cells
- Familiarity with DNA cloning software (e.g., Geneious, Snapgene, or similar)
- Experience with lentivirus production and lentiviral transduction
- Experience with molecular cloning techniques, including Gibson assembly and Golden Gate cloning
