Job Summary

The Lawrence J. Ellison Institute is seeking a talented and passionate EH&S Senior Manager to join its team. As part of the Ellison Institute, the Building Operations team is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Institute, including but not limited to building and lab facilities, maintenance/engineering and compliance with regulatory agencies. The Ellison Institute is made up of a diverse group of innovative and talented professionals who work in a fast-pace, collaborative environment that provides ongoing support to research projects, patient care, lab research and administrative operations.

The primary role of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Senior Manager is to oversee the development and implementation of health and safety guidelines for the Institute. This includes ensuring environmental and lab safety and compliance with various regulatory agencies.

The EH&S Senior Manager is responsible for performing the following job duties:
  • Provide professional EH&S expertise and leadership for the Institute.
  • Identify and assess risks throughout the Institute and develop and implement robust control measures to minimize accidents.
  • Collaborate with Directors, to lead and manage EH&S programs and systems to maximize worker safety and minimize environmental harm and achieve compliance with all applicable CAL/OSHA regulations, and US EPA and California environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Coach, lead, mentor and develop managers, supervisors and employees to achieve EH&S objectives and to support individual employee EH&S knowledge and development.
  • Directly and through others, create and implement EH&S practices, procedures, metrics, and systems to create best practices for a safe workplace.
  • Keep abreast of any EH&S law or regulation changes that impact the organization
  • Engage with employees, contractors, and other stakeholders regularly to ensure that the EH&S requirements & specifications are met.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation training and refresher training as required.
  • Responsible for leading an EH&S corrective action program which would include EHS audits, regulatory inspections, industrial accidents, and other assessments that identify EH&S issues that require corrective action.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all EH&S, CAL/OSHA, federal and California environmental regulatory reports.
  • Develop and manage systems to maintain supporting records for all EH&S activities.
  • Develop annual EH&S plan and operations budget.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Applied Sciences, Engineering or similar major preferred.

Preferred Experience: 5+ years of demonstrated EH&S leadership and success

Preferred Field of Expertise: Experience in the medical field or laboratory is preferred

Salary: 150k -170k
