The site EHS Manager is responsible for working with the Pall Biotech Site Operations team to develop and deploy Environmental Health & Safety programs & policies to mitigate risk, drive regulatory compliance and promote a positive EHS culture. This role will report directly to the Site Operations Leader as a member of the Sr. Staff with a matrix reporting relationship to Pall Global EHS.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead implementation and compliance of EHS programs and systems across site value streams and region to ensure adherence with applicable laws, regulations, and Pall Life Sciences policies.
Utilize and drive DBS (Danaher Business System) a continual process improvement similar to Six Sigma process methodology to ensure timely execution of EHS objectives and performance metrics. Lead programs to improve EHS performance in site and Pall Biotech EHS strategic objectives.
Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans and budgets to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations and internal policy/protocol. Provide EHS guidance and compliance support to site EHS managers in addressing government inquiries, violations and to ensure compliance with regulatory and program requirements.
Lead EHS compliance and program audits of manufacturing sites and service operations. Provide follow-up and support post governance/business audit to ensure execution to action plan, risk mitigation & program improvements. Provide coaching and professional development of our EHS Resources; ensure retention of key talent. Drive networking across businesses to maximize expertise, standard methodologies
Drive active EHS engagement & management of change for site strategy related to new product introductions, new process development, product transfers, technology transfers, etc. Keep site leadership team and Pall Global EHS informed of progress and significant developments on key projects.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Seven or more years of current demonstrated ability leading environmental and safety compliance programs in a manufacturing environment; for life sciences, medical, biotech, and/or pharmaceutical industries.
- BS or BA in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Management, or related field as well as current certifications in EHS or Safety. Advanced degree is a plus
- Ability to organize, motivate and lead teams, inspire change and interact cross functionally. Ability to handle multiple diverse priorities effectively.
- Extensive experience with health and safety regulations and program management
- Compliance leadership experience and understanding of cultures and people management skills.
- Knowledge of US Federal and State EHS regulations and programs.
- Experience using DBS/LEAN/Six Sigma/Toyota Production system concepts to drive programs and achieve results, and continual improvement.
- Ability to travel including occasional international travel.
- EHS Compliance experience with demonstrated capability of learning requirements and applying this experience internationally.
- Experience as leader or partner driving sustainability and/or energy/utility and waste reduction initiatives.
- Demonstrated collaboration, negotiation, conflict resolution & interpersonal skills.
- Confirmed mentoring and coaching abilities, demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others.
- Ability to make decisions, even when under pressure & take ownership for assigned projects and programs.
- Working knowledge of Gensuite (or equivalent) EHS data management system #LI-SB2
