The Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine is focused on research that includes information processing in visual, auditory, and vestibular systems; neural mechanisms mediating higher nervous system functions, including perception, learning, memory, attention, and decision making; development and regeneration in the central and peripheral nervous system; and the development of new technologies to read and stimulate neural activity, including functional magnetic neuroimaging, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and two-photon microscopy.

Job Purpose

A postdoctoral research fellow position is available in the Costa-Mattioli Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. The lab studies neurobiological basis of long-term memory formation and neurological disorders and how they can be restored. Other interests include the study of the mechanisms by which microbes in the gut modulates brain function & complex behavior. The work builds on a substantial body of data, model systems, and reagents already established in our lab.

Job Duties

  • Plan, direct and conduct specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluate and analyzes data.
  • Establish new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarize research findings and publish results in research journals.
  • Responsible for laboratory operations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
