Job summary/description
Bristol-Myers Squibb is looking for a Senior Associate Scientist/ Scientist to join the Discovery Biology Immunology team located in Lawrenceville, NJ. The position will utilize cellular, biological, biochemical and immunological techniques to validate novel targets in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Broad expertise in cellular biology is required with preference given to candidates with demonstrated experience in epithelial/stromal cell (primary organoid) assay as well as primary human and murine immune cells systems. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, able to work well independently as well as work collaboratively across other functional groups within the Discovery Research organization. The position is a hands-on, laboratory-based role. The candidate is expected to be able to plan, design, develop methodologies and execute projects according to plans and protocols with appropriate supervision. Meticulous record keeping, and excellent understanding in immunology and related assays are must have requirements.
Qualifications
Education:
- BS or MS degree in immunology, biology, biochemistry or biological science with 3-6+ years of experience or recent PhD graduate
Required Experience and Skills:
- Strong in vitro skills are required
- Extensive experience in primary human and mouse immune cell isolation, propagation and immune cell-based functional assays is required (e.g. T cells, B cells, myeloid cells, co-culture assays and other primary cell assays);
- Or strong experience with primary mouse and human epithelial cells culture (organoid), functional readouts (e.g. TEER assay, differentiation and functional cell outputs) are required.
- Hands on experience with a wide range of in-vitro cellular and biochemical assays, including, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, ELISAs (MSD), reporter assays is required
- Experience in flow cytometric analysis, measurement of cell surface receptors and proteins by multicolor FACS across different platforms is strongly desired.
- Must be able to work independently, to design and conduct experiments, including trouble-shooting outcomes and adaptively designing follow-on experiments with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in scientific computer programs including Microsoft Excel, GraphPad, FlowJo
- Excellent verbal skills, record keeping and make presentations of progress to be presented to research teams.
- Possess a high level of critical thinking, high energy, independence, a strong desire to learn new areas, and the ability to work in a highly dynamic, transparent, research organization;
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Experience in imaging techniques, amnis image stream, confocal microscopy, and experience in siRNA/shRNA, CRISPR knockdown and qPCR is desired
