Position description:
The Calico Biochemistry Group is seeking a motivated and experienced Research Associate. This individual will assist in gene design and construct generation utilizing a variety of methods and bring in new techniques as they emerge. The person will have a strong knowledge of molecular biology and will support numerous projects. They will need to be able to adapt to changing deadlines and multitask. The group member will keep up to date with appropriate techniques and technologies as well as participate in developing new technologies. We are a dynamic group and are looking for someone who is outgoing, has good communication skills and excited to work as a part of the team.
Position requirements:
BS/MS in molecular biology or related discipline, plus 2-5 years of technical work experience
Primer design and PCR (including random and site-directed mutagenesis)
Gel extraction and purification
coli transformation and colony picking
Plasmid prep (mini to giga scale)
Sanger sequencing prep and analysis
Clone banking
Small scale E. coli and mammalian expression
Experience with high-throughput systems (cloning, expression, characterization)
CRISPR/Cas9gRNA design, HDR template design and library screening is very beneficial
