*Kelly Science & Clinical *is excited to be hiring a *Microbiology Lab Technician* for a temp to hire position with a contract testing lab in the Portland metro area. The *Microbiologist *will work in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory preparing and analyzing various types of food and environmental samples. Ideal candidates are able to work at a fast pace and are committed to accuracy, enjoy multi-tasking and producing quality results, are self-starters, able to work independently, and are energized by contributing as a part of a small team.

*Responsibilities*

* Performs laboratory support tasks, including but not limited to media prep, dishwashing, cleaning, sample prep, sample storage, sterilizing waste, waste removal, etc.

* Communicates clearly and directly with microbiologists concerning any/all aspects of laboratory support tasks, including relevance, appropriate methodology, laboratory accidents, abnormal or unusual results, etc.

* Performs laboratory QA/QC checks, including but not limited to instrument and test calibration, sterility checks, balance checks, etc.

* Provides administrative support, to include typing and emailing test reports.

* Provides laboratory support including, but not limited to logging in and preparing samples for analysis per ISO/IEC 17025:2005 specifications, customer requests, and/or laboratory SOPs under the supervision of microbiologists.

* Ability to work well under pressure, in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

* Ability to work independently while contributing to the overall workload.

* Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays.

*Education and/or Experience*

Science background including a 2-year or 4-year degree in a scientific discipline, or currently enrolled in a science undergraduate program with some laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

*Qualifications*

Knowledge of microbiology laboratory terminology and protocols. Experience with use of microbiology laboratory tools and instruments. Proficiency in sterile technique.
