How you'll contribute
This role will conduct and assist in research efforts to develop novel cell and cell-based products for treating pulmonary hypertension and other lung diseases.
- Follow prescribed laboratory methods and protocols under GLP/GMP-like conditions
- Execute process development studies to improve yield, purity, and quality of primary lung cell types.
- Independently make technical observations in process and conduct preliminary troubleshooting.
- Routinely perform bioanalytical assays to phenotypically and functionally characterize cells (such as flow cytometry, IHC, protein analysis).
- Perform routine large-scale primary lung cell culture in 2D and 3D to support process development activities for a tissue engineered product including generation and maintenance of Master and Working Cell Banks.
- Author laboratory procedures and protocols for the production and analysis of primary lung cells.
- Record laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s).
- Present and discuss data with laboratory staff and program leaders.
- Assist in training of new employees on prescribed cell bioprocess methods.
- Assist in troubleshooting of problems in the laboratory. Identify problems and devise solutions to overcome technical issues.
- Participate in the evaluation of new technologies.
- May contribute to or generate technical reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
For this role you will need
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in biology, cell and molecular biology, or biomedical sciences or similar
- Bioprocess Associate I - relevant industry experience in biology, cellular and molecular biology, or biomedical sciences
- Bioprocess Associate II - minimum of 4+ years of industry experience in biology, cellular and, molecular biology, or biomedical sciences
- 2+ years of industry experience with mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, flow cytometry
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Facility with appropriate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and related standard software.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, cell and molecular biology, or biomedical sciences
- 2+ years' industry experience in molecular assays, cellular assays, and fluorescence microscopy
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Ability to work with a diverse set of coworkers
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to independently follow experimental methods and protocols
- Ability to organize data
- Highly self-motivated
