Description:
Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Fall Co-Op candidate to join our Cancer Immunology & Immune Modulation department located at our Ridgefield facility. As a Cancer biologist and/or immunologist, you will contribute to the designing and executing experiments that focus on novel in vitro, ex vivo & in vivo approaches to profile the stromal and immune tumor microenvironment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Perform and assist with critical in vivo experiments using existing in vivo mouse tumor models and assist in the development of novel in vivo and ex vivo tumor models.
• Plan and perform in vitro & ex vivo experiments that align with CI&IM goals to understand the tumor microenvironment (TME).
• Design and perform tissue digestions and sample preparations for whole tumor RNAseq and/or single-cell RNAseq transcriptomics studies to further characterize TME in mouse models and human tumors.
• Work in highly collaborative manner in a multidisciplinary team in a matrix-team environment within the Cancer Immunology Department; Stromal Biology, Myeloid Biology, In vivo, pathology and Bioinformatics groups
• Write methods and technical reports; provide scientific interpretation of results with minimal guidance.
• Present data at the end of internship in a poster or an oral presentation in the department meetings.
Requirements:
Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing.
Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
Major must be related to the field of internship.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
• Currently enrolled student in a molecular biology, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry or related. MS or PhD Graduate student preferred.
• Must have prior wet lab experience demonstrated via hands-on relevant research experience.
• Basic mammalian cell culture skills are required.
• Experience working with in vivo tumor animal models is a plus.
• Demonstrated research experience with a focus on basic immunology techniques is a plus.
• An understanding of immunological principles is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
