The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Utah State University invites applications for the position of Lecturer at the Tooele campus of Utah State University (USU) with an estimated start date of August 1, 2021. The position is an academic year (nine-month), non-tenure track appointment with the possibility of summer teaching for additional compensation. Outstanding performance can lead to promotion to Senior Lecturer and subsequently to Principal Lecturer.

Major responsibilities include teaching online and broadcast courses in lower division and developmental mathematics and statistics, modeling high-quality undergraduate mathematics and statistics pedagogical strategies, and innovative undergraduate teaching. This position has no research responsibilities. Because most courses include distance delivery, experience in broadcast or on-line teaching is desirable. Additional responsibilities include effective participation in the operation and shared governance of the Department, the Tooele campus, and the University, including academic organizations related to mathematical/statistical education, and professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics/Statistics Education, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • At least 18 credit hours of graduate-level mathematics or statistics content
  • A record of effective Mathematics/Statistics teaching at university level


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching mathematics and/or statistics at the K-12 level
  • Experience teaching college-level statistics courses
  • Scholarship in Mathematics/Statistics education
  • Experience in broadcast or on-line teaching
  • Doctoral degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics/Statistics Education or related fields

    Utah State University - Tooele Campus
