As a Sr. EH&S Specialist with E. & J. Gallo Winery, you will lead and participate in the day to day implementation and continuous improvement of environmental, health and safety programs and compliance related activities. Additionally, you will be involved in hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, air emissions, water, wastewater and storm water management, injury/illness prevention programs, incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations to maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws. You will provide oversight and leadership of environmental systems including the Code of Sustainable Winegrowing Practices, ISO 14001 (EMS), CERS, R3.

What you will do
  • Leads implementation of ISO14001 conformance by working with Environmental Management on environmental data, metrics and document management systems, annual aspect scoring and development of Objectives and Targets.
  • Prepares and submits compliance/regulatory reports and manages regulatory documentation.
  • Develops guidelines, SOPs, Work Instructions/Job Aids, procedures and practices.
  • Supports the development, maintenance and implementation of all applicable Health and Safety programs (e.g Emergency Action Plan, Confined Space, Hazardous Energy Control, etc.)
  • Conducts Job Safety Analysis/Job Hazard Analysis and Ergonomic Assessments.
  • Oversees and administers Contractor Safety Program.
  • Oversees maintenance of OSHA log and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Coordinates and facilitates or utilizes the Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety document control system.

What you need
  • Master of Science Degree in Environmental/Ecological, Safety/Industrial Hygiene Science, Chemistry or Biology plus 3 year of Environmental or Environmental, Health & Safety experience; or Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of Environmental or Environmental, Health & Safety experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or 9 years of Environmental or Environmental, Health & Safety experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience with Federal, State and local environmental laws and regulations (CAA, CWA, RCRA), environmental auditing, regulatory reporting, ISO 14001.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to occasionally engage in work at extreme heights.
  • Required to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

What will set you apart
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology plus 7 years of Environmental or Environmental, Health & Safety experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • CHMM, CSP, ASP, or OHST.
