Company Overview

At CRISPR Therapeutics, we are focused on developing transformative gene-based medicines for serious human diseases. We are rapidly translating our CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing platform into therapies to treat hemoglobinopathies, cancer, diabetes, and other diseases. Our multi-disciplinary team of world-class researchers and drug developers is committed to translating CRISPR/Cas9 technology into breakthrough human therapeutics. Our lead program targeting the blood diseases β-thalassemia and sickle cell disease has entered clinical testing, and our immuno-oncology programs focused on CRISPR/Cas9-edited allogeneic CAR-T cell therapies have the potential to deliver the next generation of cancer therapies to patients.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Research Associate II to join our genomics laboratory group. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing quality control experiments on nucleic acids and converting DNA and RNA into sequencing libraries using a variety of methods and liquid automation tools. The successful candidate will interact and closely work with therapeutic scientists, computational biologists, and the genomic laboratory group regarding projects, samples, and timelines. This position requires enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a desire to create new medicines for patients. This position reports directly to the head of the genomics laboratory group.

Responsibilities
  • Track sample data and project timelines through a laboratory information management system (LIMS) and electronic laboratory notebook (ELN)
  • Extract nucleic acids from cells and tissues and perform routine quality control experiments on nucleic acid samples
  • Transform nucleic acid samples into sequencing libraries through a variety of methods by hand and robotic liquid handlers
  • Apply operational knowledge of instruments used in the genomics space ( e.g. TapeStation, Bioanalyzer, optical plate reader, robotic liquid handling, and Illumina sequencers)
  • Help maintain instrumentation and laboratory facilities; troubleshoot instrument issues
  • Flexibly and effectively communicate within the genomics group and across functional teams to ensure timely completion of concurrent projects

Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in biology or related discipline and 3+ years of experience at academic or industrial genomic core labs
  • Experienced in sequencing library preparation starting from RNA and DNA and proficient in general molecular biology
