Primary Purpose Reporting to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager develops, implements, manages and promotes environmental health and safety programs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement and maintain specific environmental health and safety programs, procedures, and processes, University wide.
Coordinate university wide building safety inspection program, which includes fire, life safety, chemical and general safety.
Document and follow up on corrective action plans and submit reports as required
Investigate and communicate the root cause of accidents/injuries and near misses
Prepare professional reports with findings and corrective actions
Provide and document occupational health and safety training
Utilize continuous improvement principles in all EHS responsibilities
Cultivate a positive culture of safety by role modeling safe behavior and a demonstrated commitment to safety
Respond to off-hours emergencies
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
Four (4) years experience in environmental health and safety
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Safety, Occupational Health and Safety or related field
Seven (7) years experience in occupational health and safety
Higher education health and safety experience
Biosafety experience
Industrial hygiene experience
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Working knowledge of current EHS regulations
