The Environment Health and Safety Supervisor for Beckman Coulter is responsible for ensuring all associates can safety help us achieve our mission and vision in scientific research, and medicine to the world. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Promote a culture in which all functions and maintenance/EHS work together to identify and resolve conditions that could negatively impact safety, quality or productivity develop, implement, and manage site Maintenance/EH&S policies and procedures designed to ensure compliance related to Quality, EHS, Security, Dangerous Goods, Transportation, etc. (FDA, DEA, DOT,CalOSHA, OSHA, EPA, etc.) and local regulations.
- Coordinate deployment of processes to maintain compliance of all legal, corporate policy, procedures and initiatives; Research new or existing laws, rules, and regulations and make recommendations regarding appropriate actions.
- Coach and serve as mentor for the site-level associates
- Coordinate daily management of EHS activities across the site. Be a champion of driving improvements and ensuring sustainment.
- Lead and deliver training to ensure compliance and build functional competency
- Provide support and leadership in the coordination and management of the safety incident management system; Facilitate incident investigation process. Conduct accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Lead safety activities, i.e., monthly audits, monthly meetings, and publishing/posting of metrics
- Lead/maintain safety, first aid, spill kit, and protective equipment supplies; site contact for waste management.
- Partner and cross-audit with other facilities and Danaher operating companies
- Provide input into corporate EHS standards and initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement in safety and sustainability
- Other duties as assigned
Job requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar, with 3+ years of experience.
- 3+ years EHS experience, including work in manufacturing operations and product engineering/R&D.
- 3+ years' experience in life sciences and laboratory operations preferred BSL1/BSL2.
- Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Previous Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Emergency Preparedness/Emergency Response, Laboratory Safety, Electrical Safety, Ergonomics, Atmospheric Air/Noise Permitting Requirements, Hazardous Materials and Chemical Management, Industrial Hygiene, Job Hazard Analysis, Biological Safety BSL1/BSL2 Facility Management, Radiation and Laser Safety, Hazardous Waste Management, Waste Minimization and Sustainability, Machine Guarding and Automation Control.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
