Job Description Summary
Initiate, contribute and manage development of multiple projects, devices and study protocols at direction of Principal Investigator. Leads research team to design and conduct qualitative research, instrument development projects which includes proposal development, research design, data collection, survey design, qualitative analyses, and report writing, to name a few. Develops literature, reports, manuscripts and publications to drive funding opportunities. Develops relationships with existing and potential funders, research partners, research sites, regulatory offices and affiliated organizations as part of stakeholder management. Responsible to train and supervise staff, interface with existing postdoctoral fellows and students in the laboratory. Develop and implement all safety procedures in the lab including drafting and implementing new SOPs and protocols for general laboratory practices, in compliance with Safety regulations. Close partnership with Principal Investigator to ensure success of all researches/clinical studies.The position is contingent upon funding.
Job Description
The Berger lab at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Research Specialist C/D to support, contribute, and manage the various projects. The Berger Lab broadly studies epigenetic mechanisms in multiple developmental and disease contexts, including, cancer, aging, metabolism, neurological development, neurodegeneration, and behavior. Multiple model systems, including human cells and tissues, mice, yeast, and ants are utilized in the lab. These diverse areas of research call for distinct skill sets and knowledge bases, thus necessitating the need for a highly skilled technician to provide broad support while also conducting general laboratory maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; personal initiative, and ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities; ability to take responsibility and meet deadlines and initiate tasks without close supervision; and an ability to collaborate effectively and work well in teams.
Research Specialist C Plans and conducts complex experiments to meet research project objectives. Performs laboratory experiments. Oversee overall management of laboratory tools, documentations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables. Closely collaborates with lab members in all developmental and disease areas of research. Adapt existing techniques and develop new techniques with Principal Investigator (PI) and senior scientists on experimental aims in accordance to established protocols. Responsible for team performance management and reviews.
