THE POSITION:
Provide leadership, oversight and commitment to the development, implementation and administration of Environmental, Health and Safety management system and compliance initiatives across the company. Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and company standards, deliver training programs, participate in the incident/ hazard investigation process and assist in the implementation of corrective actions and develop and implement and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) for the corporation.
- Responsible for managing all aspects of the occupational health and safety function including, compliance to OSHA, exposure assessment, industrial hygiene, training development, risk assessments, record keeping, reporting, international travel assessments and emergency response;
- Interprets, recommends, and audits compliance activities companywide with respect to regulations and/or company policies. Assures compliance with safety, health and environmental laws and regulations issued by, OSHA, EPA and other federal, state and local agencies;
- Devises, develops and monitors effective EH&S management strategies and makes recommendations on the implementation of these strategies;
- Reviews, recommends, and develops EH&S compliance policies, programs and procedures in keeping with best industry practices. Oversees the development, plan and implementation of environmental, occupational health and safety programs and policies/procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations;
- Facilitate the ongoing administration of the Human Performance Program for all Business Divisions;
- Liaison with regulatory bodies, prepares and submits all required reports, to ensure safety and environmental compliance;
- Participate in the development of long-range plans to address current and future occupational safety, health, and environmental issues facing all Business Divisions and develops management and employee communications on these topics;
- Serves as a technical/regulatory resource in the areas of occupational safety, industrial hygiene, health or environmental compliance and the interpretation of analytical data to determine safety, industrial hygiene or environmental remediation control measures, etc.;
- Administrate Control Risks systems (i.e. travel and medical [domestic, international, expatriate]);
- Serves as the NGS EHS Business Partner maintaining the business division EHS Management System
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research; attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
- Develop and implement standardized EH&S regulatory research tools and resources such as regulatory rules, publications, industry codes, EH&S subcontractor and consultants;
- Contribute to building a positive team spirit;
- Conduct investigations of major accidents and respond to government agency inquiries;
- Collect and analyze audit data and accident/injury data. Make recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Review costs and trends associated with group accidents and workers compensation program
- Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using for benefit of third parties;
- Maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity at all times;
- Overnight travel (up to 30%) by land and/or air.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering or related field from four-year College or university; and Seven (7) to Ten (10) years related experience and/or training. Related exp. in Power Related Industry or Manufacturing highly preferred. Successful completion of a board safety certification such as Certified Safety professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
EXPERIENCE IN THE BELOW AREAS HIGHLY PREFERRED:
Strong field (project sites) experience.
Strong Technical EHS expertise and knowledge of applicable regulations and mandates (OSHA)
Electrical Safety (high voltage, arc flash, lockout tag out, NFPA, NEC,)
Process Safety Management
Hazard Assessments
Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis Systems
Behavior Based Safety
Human Performance
Prior record of success in the creation and implementation of comprehensive EH&S plans deployed across complex business settings with multiple locations, matrixes, requirements and challenges.
ISO 45001 knowledge.
Critical thinking, problem solving, analytical and data analysis skills, strong partnering tendencies, team player and facilitating skills.
Ability to Ability to understand customers need both internal and external and translate that understanding into action.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of multiple database applications, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, interpersonal, strategic thinking/planning and collaboration skills.
