Essential Functions & Duties
  • Responsible for three California facilities: Sunnyvale Headquarters; Fremont - Christy St.; Fremont Milmont.
  • Provide intermittent support for local Innovion San Jose and Fremont sites.
  • Develops administer and implement environmental programs per federal, state, and local laws and regulations; review and update programs to ensure continued compliance.
  • Drive environmental and workplace safety program improvements.
  • Perform regular risk assessments and job hazard analyses; communicate results and make recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare and manage sites' regulatory applications, permits, plans and reports, and required recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Evaluate building systems, facility projects and tool installations to applicable environmental regulations, and building and industry safety codes. (NFPA, NEC, SEMI, ANSI, OSHA, etc.); participates in early stages of project planning and provides technical expertise and guidance in support of activities and projects.
  • Lead and manage environmental management system (EMS) efforts per the ISO 14001 standard.
  • Interact with federal, state, and local regulators and assists with regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Participate in the audit processes (compliance and ISO 14001 internal audits) and facility inspections; conducts routine EHS-related facility audits and inspections.
  • Assist with incident investigations and ensures reports focus on root causes and corrective actions; follow up to ensure corrective and preventive actions are identified and implemented.
  • Track and communicate key performance metrics.
  • Identify, develop, and provide or coordinate EHS-related training.
  • Chair and contribute to the sites' safety committee meetings, administer meetings and related action items.
  • Provide oversight of the Fremont Emergency Response Team and activities, including training, drills, annual physicals and response activities.
  • Participate in corporate level EHS initiatives and drive positive change through responsible sites.

Experience
  • Minimum 7 yr. experience managing EHS programs in an industrial or manufacturing environment; semiconductor-related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining compliance programs, procedures, processes and related training.
  • Broad Experience dealing with federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Compliance, permitting and reporting experience.
  • Experience with California regulations and agencies (including but not limited to CAL-OSHA, CARB, BAAQMD and CUPA).
  • Experience with building and fire codes, industrial hygiene characterizations, EHS compliance auditing, and process hazard assessments, including assessments for evaluating system safety under the PSM and CalARP compliance standards.

Education
  • BS/MS Environmental, Industrial Hygiene or Safety engineering or equivalent degree.

Skills
  • Leadership capabilities to successfully coordinate and manage EHS programs and projects, training activities, and audits.
  • Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.
  • Work effectively with other members of Finisar's engineering, manufacturing, and management teams to ensure effective program implementation at the site level.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of EHS program management.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Dependable with ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment and easily adapt to change.
  • Ability to work in clean room environment and use required PPE
  • Ability to function as a member of the site ERT and maintain certifications necessary to actively participate.
