Golder's Florida Ecology Team is seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team in either Tampa or Pensacola . Working on a range of power and infrastructure projects. Project work will be varied, covering a broad range of ecological and environmental permitting services.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Preparation of FDEP Environmental Resource Permit and USACE Section 404 permit application
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients by providing technical expertise, attending client meetings, and leading project development pursuits
- State and federal wetland delineation in Florida, including jurisdictional determinations, functional assessments, and mitigation proposals
- Preparation of Section 404(b)(1) Alternatives Analysis reports to support USACE permitting
- Threatened and endangered species surveys and evaluations
- USFWS Section 7 consultation, including preparation of Biological Assessments and negotiation of conservation measures
- Aquatic biomonitoring, including seagrass surveys
- Proposal and technical report preparation
- Interacting with clients and sub-consultants
- Regulatory agency coordination
- Willing to work in the field, and travel within Florida 30% of the time
- Delivering mid to complex projects on time and within budget
- Supporting and mentoring junior staff members
The successful candidate shall be self-motivated, confident, and affable with the desire to develop as an individual and build successful working relationships with colleagues and clients
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Ecology or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience
- Specific environmental permitting experience for power industry clients: transmission lines, new generation (solar, natural gas), natural gas pipelines, water pipelines
- Experience in field work, wetland delineation, and listed species survey techniques
- Fluency in regulatory agency guidelines in the state of Florida (FDEP, FWC, USACE, USFWS)
- Capable of producing clear and concise written documents
- Highly organized and able to prioritize own and others workload
- Capable of working independently and effectively with in team
- Demonstrate attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Self-motivated, reliable, and dedicated individual
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Desired:
- Master's degree in Ecology or related field
- Consulting experience
