About the role:

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join its Molecular Biology and Sample Preparation team as a Scientist/Senior Scientist.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the development of novel cell and molecular biology protocols for solving complex biological problems. You should have at least 8 years of relevant research experience in an academic or industrial setting in one or more of the following disciplines: Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neurobiology, Cancer Biology, Immunology, or similar.

You will apply your skills and knowledge to optimize and evaluate current (fresh frozen, PFA, FFPE) methods of sample preparation for application in spatial transcriptomic and proteomic analyses. Furthermore, you will have proficiency in general histology techniques (e.g. tissue sectioning and staining) and awareness of current multiplex assays.

You will interact with research associates and scientists, as well as colleagues in computational biology, software, manufacturing, and marketing from all across the company. Beyond the technical qualifications, you must be highly goal-oriented, inquisitive, organized, independent, collaborative, willing to learn new techniques and concepts and be able to thrive in an atmosphere of shifting demands and priorities.

What you will be doing:

Lead and/or assist in the development and optimization of sample preparation procedures/protocols for solid tissue and single-cell genomic assays.
Develop a deep understanding of the interplay between cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry to identify the root cause of sample and fixation variability, and generate robust solutions.
Planning and execution of experiments, in-depth analysis, and reporting of through documentation and presentations.
Contribute cell and molecular biology expertise and leadership to cross-disciplinary product development teams to ensure project milestones and product performance.
Develop demonstrated protocols, technical notes, and other applications-based material for internal and external use.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

A Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or similar fields with a minimum of 3+ years postdoctoral or industry experience
5+ years of hands-on cell biology and histology experience in an academic or industrial setting
Experience with provisioning or processing animal models and human clinical samples (e.g. single-cell suspension, solid tissues, biopsies, fresh frozen, FFPE)
Meticulous attention to detail and strong record keeping skills
Experience with protein detection methodologies, proteomics, multiplexed protein assays, and antibody handling
Experience with RNA and DNA sample preparation, genomics, and a wide variety of nucleic acid protocols
Significant next-generation sequencing (NGS) experience is not required, but you are responsible for quickly learning and mastering our NGS product workflows, and becoming conversant in NGS data analysis
Experience with quantitative imaging and image processing
Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changes (e.g., priorities and timelines)
Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization, which requires flexibility and a willingness to learn new techniques and concepts
Maintain a cooperative and professional attitude when interacting with internal colleagues and external collaborators
Commitment to total customer satisfaction with outstanding interpersonal skills and professionalism

Additional Desired Skills:

Familiarity with various tissue types and pathological samples
Experience with tissue sectioning: cryostat, microtome, or similar
Experience with tissue dissociation, mammalian cell culture, and cell-based assays
Experience with product development/design
Familiarity with NGS library preparation and/or NGS data analysis
