We are seeking an outstanding scientist to contribute to the ongoing innovation in the BMS chemical biology team as a scientific contributor supporting the Immunology & Neuroscience Project and Early Development Teams. The successful candidate will have exemplary problem-solving skills, strong technical laboratory skill sets, and a demonstrated ability to generate, aggregate, and interpret multi-parameter data to formulate actionable hypotheses and strategies. These skill sets will be applied toward new target identification, target validation, elucidating drug mechanism of action, molecular basis of disease states, and the assessment and development of novel modalities for use in drug discovery. This individual will have insatiable curiosity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work equally well in a team or independently. This role will be based in Cambridge, MA and will have opportunities to impact the broader BMS Research & Early Development pipeline. A more detailed description of the ideal candidate is list below.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performing cell-based and biochemical assay readout technologies such as flow cytometry, ELISA, and immunofluorescence
- Synthesizing compounds required to answer key biological questions, including LCMS and NMR interpretation (synthesis skills is highly desired but not mandatory)
- Collaborating alongside a cross-functional team that includes chemical biologists, chemists, biochemists, and proteomics experts to develop new technologies, discover new targets, and provide solutions for project teams
- Communicating hypotheses, study plans, and data to project team
Qualifications:
- B.S. with at least 2 years of industry experience or M.S. degree relevant experience in biology, chemical biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or a related field
- Understanding of molecular and cell biology techniques
- Experience in independently generating precise, reliable data and analysis
- Highly collaborative, self-motivated individual with a strong desire to learn
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
