This position performs a variety of assigned tasks to support and ensure environmental compliance across company operations. In addition, the position will assist in developing portions of the corporate Environmental, Social, Governance (Cantel ESG) program and ESG tracking metrics. The environmental engineer will be responsible for coordinating, leading, implementing and supporting compliance and permitting projects and programs, particularly focusing on hazardous waste and industrial wastewater discharge. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret regulations to determine what is required to achieve compliance. The specialist will interface with all levels of company employees, vendors, and regulatory agencies. #CB

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare permit applications, develop air emissions inventories/calculations, complete regulatory reviews, and develop air permitting strategies
  • Develop environmental compliance plans and programs such as SPCC, SWPPP, contingency plans and spill response plans.
  • Assists in developing ESG and 14001 programs, specifically with developing sustainability targets and tracking metrics.
  • Manages and expands functionality of VelocityEHS (Environmental and Safety Management System) and assists employees using the program
  • Completes profiles for RCRA and non-RCRA waste
  • Assist and provide guidance with the day to day management of the environmental programs at the facility.
  • Gather data and complete environmental reports and metrics
  • Assist in environmental training activities as necessary, including training development and presentations.
  • Conduct multi-media environmental audits
  • Deliver technical project work in the areas of and environmental compliance (e.g. water, waste, air, emergency planning).


Miscellaneous
  • Work cross functionally to fully engage employees, contractors and vendors in the EHS process, expectations, and requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time
  • Assist in miscellaneous EHS Department tasks
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or related field
  • 4+ years of environmental compliance experience working with federal and state agencies
  • Knowledge and application of environmental regulations, compliance and permitting programs; specifically, RCRA, CWA, CAA and EPCRA.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, together with strong organizational skills, prioritization and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to adapt to setbacks, adversity and diversity.
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently or with others in cross-functional project teams.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This position may involve exposure to moving machinery, lift trucks, UV light, biohazards, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to lift/carry 25 lbs.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel and/or stand for extended periods of time.
