Responsibilities
The support provided by the DEP SMEs SME should include the following duties:
- Proficient in each program's curriculum measured through the annual Course Content Review Board (CCRB) process.
- Adaptation of the resident curriculum into distance education curriculum using the CDET's curriculum development process.
- Revise and update the courseware according to CDET's course development schedules.
- Develop course/lesson objectives using Bloom's revised taxonomy.
- Establish and electronically maintain courseware, curriculum and assessment version control and faculty guides.
- Create and safeguard course assessments electronically.
- Develop and maintain an electronic exam-mapping document.
- Update and manage courses Learning Support System (LSS) Faculty Development (FD) content.
- Teach the required number of courses at the required location and/or online (by course number) for the required period of time per Academic Year.
- Specific to the CSC Curriculum the SME duties should include the following:
- Incorporation of the Joint Professional Military Education Phase I requirements per CJCSI 1800.01 (OPMEP) into the course and prepare briefings and self-study for the Process for the Accreditation of Joint Education (PAJE) reviews.
- Provide SME services in the following 8 areas: 1. Theory and Nature of War, 2. National and International Security Studies, 3. Operational Art, 4. Joint Warfighting, 5. Small Wars, 6 MAGTF Operations, 7. Naval Integrated FMF, 8. Operation Planning and War gaming.
- Specific to the EWSDEP Curriculum the SME duties should include the following:
- Develop courses in accordance with Student Learning Outcomes approved by CG, EDCOM.
- Provide SME services in each of the following 7 areas: 1. Ground Combat Arms (includes Doctrine, Maneuver and Fires) 2. Aviation, 3. Logistics, 4. Planning (utilizing MCPP), 5. Amphibious Operations, 6. Practical Exercises/War gaming., 7 Leadership/Ethics and Prerequisite development.
- Specific to the ECDEP Curriculum the SME duties should include the following:
- Develop courses in accordance with Student Learning Outcomes.
- Provide SME services in the following three (3) areas: 1. Administration and Communications, 2. Warfighting, 3. Leadership and Ethics for the five (5) following Distance Education Programs: 1. Leading Marine course, 2. Corporal's course, 3. Sergeant's School, 4. Career School, 5. Advanced School and Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education Course.
Qualifications
Required
- Have knowledge of, and experience in, military subject matter within the CDET curriculum.
- Have knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of the case study method; experience in seminar leadership, public speaking, war-gaming, and other techniques of instruction suitable for teaching mid-grade professional military officers.
- Have knowledge of the background and development of American military policy from the colonial era to the present, including policies relating to the Marine Corps and other services.
- Possess desired competencies including organization and planning skills, competence in seminar facilitation, and student evaluation and assessment skills.
- Strong communications and presentation skills.
- Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office
- Expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment.
- Active Secret clearance/Ability to obtain security clearance.
- List any REQUIRED language proficiency - None
- Position expected to begin on or about 1 Jul 2021.
- Desired
- Mid-Level: Six + years of experience and a BA/BS is required, MA/MS degree preferred.
- Senior Level: Fifteen (15) years of experience and a MA/MS degree.
- Attended Professional Military Education appropriate to rank at time of separation or retirement from the uniformed service.
- Possess a degree in education, history, international relations, or national security/strategic studies preferred.
