The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health is expanding its environmental health multidisciplinary research program to address environmental determinants of health and well-being. We invite applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level. Competitive salary and start-up resources are available. This single position may be located at any of our School of Public Health campus locations. The faculty will report to the Department Chair of Epidemiology, Human Genetics, and Environmental Sciences ( and Campus Dean (if located at a regional campus).

With a combined total of 165 faculty and 1,200 graduate students at the master's or doctoral levels, UTHealth School of Public Health comprises six campuses located across Texas: Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio. The UTHealth School of Public Health offers multiple master's and doctoral degree programs. Students take courses offered through all of the six campuses using TelePresence technology (or ITV), enabling interactive teaching across campuses and collaborations among faculty and students.

This position offers the opportunity to join an innovative research team within a recently reorganized center for occupational health and exposome studies ( and the intellectual space to collaborate with current programs while developing new ideas and research directions. Primary responsibilities include maintaining an independently funded research program in fields related to Total Worker Health. The successful candidate will be expected to serve in the Total Worker Health program of the NIOSH-supported Southwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health and provide graduate-level courses in the environmental and occupational health curriculum as well as mentor and advise both masters and doctoral students. Ideal candidates will have a broad understanding of public health, particularly of epidemiology, environmental and occupational health sciences, and/or related research methodologies, including assessment techniques, study design, data management, and analytic approaches. This includes risk factor identification and experimental designs.

Specifically, we are seeking candidates with these qualifications:

* An earned doctoral degree in occupational or environmental health sciences related disciplines in research design and quantitative methods. An MD or DO degree with experience in occupational medicine will be considered as well.

* Graduate-level teaching and research with emphasis and experience in Total Worker Health programs and policies that integrate work related safety and promotion of illness and injury prevention efforts to encourage worker well-being.

* A track record of research publications commensurate with academic rank and demonstrating potential for securing external funding.

* Experience with conducting field-based research in occupational settings, including designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive interventions as part of interprofessional teams.
