Job Description
This position aids in conducting day-to-day operations of the Neuropharmacology Laboratory's in vivo and in vitro screening assays for the COBRE Phase III, Neuropharmacology Core. This includes overseeing rodent-based drug screening assays, and overseeing data collection procedures and data analyses for receptor binding and activity assays, as well as neuroprotection and neurotoxicity assays.
Job Responsibilities
Assisting with scheduling and conducting in vitro screening of compounds derived from natural products in receptor binding, receptor function, neuroprotection, neurotoxicity, and neuronal growth assays. Assisting with in vivo screening in rodent models of addiction, nociception, stress-related disorders and memory, among others. Performing all assays in a rigorous and reproducible manner. Assisting with the analysis of data using software programs such as GraphPad Prism and SPSS. Assisting with the recruitment of clients and communication of results.
Minimum Qualifications
M.S. in related field (neuroscience, psychology, biology, biochemistry, etc.) and 2 years related experience or B.S. and 4 years related experience.
