We are currently recruiting for a Biologist (Principal Investigator- clinical/molecular virology) to join our research team to conduct research using clinical and/or molecular-based methodologies to address health risks associated with human infectious viruses, especially SARS-CoV-2, and other waterborne zoonotic enteric or respiratory viruses.

One of its major responsibility is to conduct scientific research to inform Agency decisions and support the emerging needs of its stakeholders, including the Agency's state, tribal, and community partners. The Biological Methods Branch (BMB) within Watershed and Ecosystems Characterization Division (WECD), develops methods to measure microbial pollutants in various environmental media such as soil, air, and water to support environmental statues (e.g., Safe Drinking Water act and the Clean Water Act). BMB develops methods, tools, and technologies that are used to inform effective recreational and drinking water management practices and minimize health risks from various microbial contaminants ranging from viruses, bacteria, to parasites. Qualifications:
bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in one of the following: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as listed.
In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described in the USAJOBS vacancy announcement.

- Conduct independent research in environmental/clinical and molecular virology in response to EPA's priorities in assessing human and animal health risks;
- Serve as a technical authority on virological and immunological methodologies to assess human infectious viruses;
- Communicate research results in peer-reviewed publications and at scientific conferences.
