Under general supervision, will assist the lab gain mechanistic understanding of cellular and physiological responses to the metabolic environment and metabolic stress.

The start date will be between spring and early summer 2021

  • Maintains cell culture stocks and preparation of reagents for studies.
  • Assists with general laboratory supply, and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintains organization and records for laboratory.
  • Assist with managing a colony of genetically altered mice including mouse husbandry and breeding, designing crosses, and maintaining organization and documentation of colony.
  • In conjunction with other lab staff, conducts research studies of metabolism to test hypotheses using physiological and molecular biological approaches.
  • Maintains appropriate records of study design and results.
  • Evaluates research results, discussing project outcomes with laboratory personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related field
  • Project-based experience working in a basic science research lab.
  • Experience in aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture
  • Experience with PCR techniques
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite and facility with learning new software systems for management of molecular biology data.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, timeliness
  • Highly motivated, ability to take initiative, and willingness to contribute to team efforts
