This position will sit at our Thousand Oaks, CA site. There will be up to 30% travel, primarily domestic.
How will you make an impact?
The EHS Manager is responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of the customer, as determined by customer requirements. Work in concert with customer management and Thermo Fisher Scientific sales team to ensure that all requirements and service metrics, as outlined in the current contract/agreement, are met on a consistent basis. Act as liaison on behalf of the customer and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
What will you do?
- Program administration for ULS Safety Incident reporting, including necessary investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) compliance and closure. Review and enhance the current Safety Incident reporting tool as appropriate. Serve as the ULS POC for the customer safety program (INCA).
- Serve as the primary ULS representative for all responsibilities involving the ULS Business Continuity Plan, including Plan development and execution for all sites.
- Coordinate, in partnership with Corporate ULS, to identify, assign, and monitor compliance of employee safety training requirements, including hazard communication.
- Develop and maintain Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) for all ULS-provided services at the customer sites.
- Develop, implement and monitor weekly/monthly workspace safety inspection logs, to be administered by the local services supervision. Partner with local supervision to address inspection observations.
- Conduct/coordinate site safety audits and safety walk-arounds in the field as appropriate.
- Participate in regulatory inspections as required to represent Unity Lab Services in matters involving OSHA, EPA, or other relevant safety and environmental regulatory agencies to ensure ULS compliance with applicable local, federal and state regulations.
- Identify hazardous workplace conditions for ULS services currently being performed at customer sites, and establish guidelines for compliance, risk and injury reduction.
- Provide periodic review and updates to applicable ULS operating documents such as SOPs, Emergency Action Plan, and Injury & Illness Prevention Plan.
How will you get here?
- Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental or related field from four-year college or university
- 5+ years broad operational EHS experience in a large service-based company environment with global operations.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement requirements of OSHA, DOT, FAA, NFPA, NEC, RCRA, EPA, NRC, ADA, ANSI and ISO-14001 Certification.
- Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant development year over year.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to quickly understand the business and measure EHS's impact on its success through KPIs.
- Strong skills in the delivery and deployment of EHS services to diverse and dispersed user groups located at multiple sites.
- Possess the leadership and supervisory skills be able to lead, coach and motivate a large group of employees along with excellent interpersonal skills to relate well to employees, various levels of the customer business and peers.
- Possess written and communication skills to clearly express his or her ideas, share technical information, communicate well with customers and all levels of the organization, write procedures and develop plans. Able to handle conflict well and give positive and constructive feedback along with managing performance issues.
- Comfortability presenting in public forums between ULS and the customer across all levels of leadership.
- Possess organizational skills to meet deadlines and assist staff in multi-tasking.
