Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Environmental Scientist, well count on you to
Plan and direct environmental planning and compliance projects for transportation, power, and water projects in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming
Prepare, plan, and review technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents and similar reports/documents
Accomplish work independently and through coordinating a professional team from local or area offices
Support regional or national projects in specific areas of expertise
Be closely involved with public participation and agency coordination
Serve as Project Manager for projects as needed, but project management is not sole focus of position
Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Biology, Natural resources, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Planning or closely related field
• 7+ years of experience in environmental planning
• Expertise with wetland delineation, including familiarity with CWA Section 404/401 requirements
• Technical expertise in evaluating environmental considerations for conceptual design, interpreting/presenting data on environmental studies and investigations
• Must have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
• Proficient with MS Office Suite and familiar with use/application of ArcGIS
• Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
• Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and research abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel
• A desire to help Company continue to grow in the resources business by proactive business development activities
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

• Project Management experience preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of NEPA processes, particularly associated with USACE, WAPA, BIA and others. USFS and BLM experience is a plus
• Knowledge with state utility permitting preferred
• Preference given to local candidates
