The Department of Cancer Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of DNA damage responses, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell culture. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include investigating responses to DNA replication for instability using purification-based approaches and mass spectrometry, writing manuscripts and grant proposals, training and collaborating with other laboratory personnel, attending weekly seminar and laboratory meetings, and presenting research findings at work-in-progress meetings.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to make novel advances in our understanding of DNA damage responses, train in innovative experimental approaches, become familiar with relevant literature, prepare manuscripts and grant applications, present research findings at national and international meetings, mentor junior scientists, and participate in career trainings offered by the University.
Candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of postdoctoral experience in related specialties and expertise.
