Safety, Health, & Environmental (SHE) Associate I

Duties:

Support program manager(s) in the following SHE Programs:

SHE Management System

Assist in implementing new management system modules

Safety work permits

Management of change

Training management

Develop training on new modules for system users

Create new inspection forms and/or checklists in management system

Sustainability Reporting

Support program manager in data collection and data entry

Biosafety

Audit Hep B documentation

Audit biological materials inventory

May serve as a back up in the biological material approval process

Chemical Hygiene

Serve as the back up in the chemical approval process

Upload new chemical SDS to online database

Update chemical inventory in Santa Clara labs and develop system for maintenance

Complete chemical inventory for Mfg Ops

Complete chemical inventory for CLIA labs in San Jose

Lab safety

Conduct monthly SHE lab inspections

Create and distribute monthly CAPA reports

Review lab safety binder contents and update accordingly

Review lab safety profiles and ensure it is consistent with actual lab hazards

Seismic Bracing

Create equipment inventory for all lab and office spaces

Track equipment bracing status

Mental Health Initiative

Assist in identifying needs of on and off site personnel

Contractor safety training at front desk

Install contractor safety training on Ipads at the front desk

Integrate a system to ensure that vendors are tracked and annual training is prompted to security.

K1 Documentation

Assist with summarizing task based work assessments (K1) into training modules for lab users to review before they enter the labs.

Upload task based training modules into EHS Insight Ipad for each lab area.

Track users and verify that training is being completed

SHE Documentation

Organize (hard and soft copies) based on good documentation practices

Facilities/Physical Safety

Storm Drain Protection

Perform monthly storm drain inspections and record findings into EHS Insight checklist.

Assist in measuring storm drain openings for installation of storm drain filters

Lockout - Tagout - Convert Word templates of Lockout-Tagout Equipment-specific procedures/checklists into EHS Insight digital procedures/checklists (50+ procedures).

Signage Installation -

Apply Confined Space signage/labels to AHUs / Exhaust Fans, etc to existing equipment that is missing required signage;

Apply Confined Space signage/labels to new AHUs on roof of 2881 building

Apply Electrical Panel Clearance labels to all campus electrical panels

Apply Energy Source ID + Location labels to all equipment for which Equipment-specific Lockout-Tagout procedures exist

Office/Roof/Grounds Inspections- perform monthly inspections of all campus buildings and record findings in EHS Insight checklist.

Risk Assessment

Assist during the investigation and information gathering portion of lab process risk assessments

Schedule observation time

Interface with laboratory personnel

Take detailed notes of lab processes

Meet and confer with SHE personnel afterwards and present findings
