We are the leading provider of therapeutic antibody discovery and engineering technologies, focusing solely on our partners without pursuing an internal product pipeline. This includes naïve discovery from synthetic libraries in yeast or B cells (mice and humans), antibody engineering and optimization, multi-specific antibody engineering, and a portfolio of proprietary CD3 antibodies licensed non-exclusively for bispecific applications. Since 2009, we have partnered with over 80 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, generating more than 360 therapeutic programs, over 40 clinical programs, and our first approved product. Our technology has been transferred and implemented at Biogen, GSK, Lilly, Merck, Novo Nordisk, and Takeda. Funded discovery partners include leading pharmaceutical companies, such as Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol Myers Squibb, Novartis, Regeneron, Sanofi, Takeda and others. We have also partnered with many early-stage venture-backed companies, including Amagma, Cygnal, Dragonfly, iOmx, NextPoint, Pliant, Tizona, TRex Bio and others, as well as mid-size public biopharmaceutical companies such as Acceleron, Alector, Cullinan Oncology, Five Prime, Innovent, Jounce, Mersana, Scholar Rock, Surface Oncology, and others.

Our integrated antibody discovery and engineering platform provides unprecedented speed from antigen to purified, full-length human IgGs. We offer fundamental advantages by delivering diverse panels of therapeutically relevant antibodies that meet the most demanding standards for affinity, epitope coverage, species cross-reactivity, and developability. We enable our partners to rapidly expand their biologics pipelines through a broad spectrum of technology access arrangements.

Role

We are seeking a creative individual to join our Computational Biology group located in Palo Alto, CA. The ideal candidate is a computational antibody/protein engineer, or bioinformatician, with broad-based expertise in one or more areas such as protein structure modeling, machine learning/deep learning, next-generation sequencing (NGS), immune repertoire analysis or single-cell sequencing, alongside hands-on experience in scientific programming and cloud computing.

Responsibilities
  • Perform data-mining on proprietary and public antibody sequence and structure databases to derive insights for antibody library design
  • Develop computational NGS workflows for antibody library characterization and selections
  • Execute combination of approaches (machine learning/ protein structure modeling) for antibody and protein engineering (affinity, specificity, developability, Fc modifications, bispecifics, antigen design)

Needed upon hire
  • Ph.D. in relevant discipline (Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, or related)
  • Three or more years experience with peer-reviewed publications in research areas mentioned above in a combined computational/experimental academic lab or industry-setting
  • Experience with protein modeling and visualization software (Rosetta, Yasara, PyMol)
  • Experience with DNA/RNA-seq platforms and approaches is preferred
  • Familiarity with both antibody-related and standard genomic and protein databases such as IMGT, OAS, UCSC, NCBI, UniProt, PDB
  • Programming
    • Fluent in R and Python
    • Ability to integrate tools/modules into custom pipelines
  • Data science and machine learning
    • Demonstrated skills with visualization and collaboration tools such as Jupyter notebooks, matplotlib, ggplot2, Plotly, or others
    • Familiarity with performing and communicating statistical analyses
    • Expertise with TensorFlow/Keras or similar frameworks preferred
