We are currently seeking a highly motivated scientist with expertise in immunology, inflammation, and autoimmune diseases to join our Immunology & Inflammation Discovery Biology group in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate must demonstrate technical expertise in cellular assays to validate therapeutic targets, and perform detailed mechanism of action studies to support programs as they enter and move through clinical development. As a team member, the ideal candidate will work in close collaboration with colleagues from different functions to build and expand our innovative and life-changing therapies for patients with auto-immune diseases.
Job Requirements:
This position requires a Master's degree in the field or biology, immunology or related scientific discipline with at least 6 years work experience in a related field in an academic and/or industry setting or a Ph.D. degree in the field or biology, immunology or related scientific discipline.
Qualifications and Responsibilities:
- Research experience in biology, inflammatory & autoimmune diseases and/or cancer immunotherapy is highly desirable.
- Extensive hands-on experience in isolation, culture, and characterization of primary immune cells from human or animal tissues is required.
- Extensive cell-based and biochemical assay development experience with a variety of readout technologies including flow cytometry and multiplex ELISA is required.
- The successful candidate will have outstanding experimental design, troubleshooting, and data analysis skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to identify scientific and technical problems and potential solutions.
- Ability to demonstrate effectiveness and growth in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
- Clear evidence of sustained independent thought and creativity in developing and implementing advanced technology and ideas for new drug discovery projects.
Technical/biological Duties:
- Primary cell isolation from whole blood and tissues.
- Design, validate and execute complex primary cell-based assays and co-culture system assays.
- Design, validate and execute multi-color flow cytometry experiments.
- Design, validate and execute cytokine detection experiments using multiplex assay technologies.
- Design, validate and execute complex biochemical assays, including RNA/DNA isolation, real-time PCR, protein isolation and immunoblotting.
- Independently analyses and interpret data. Present data to pears.
- Travel requirement: less than 20% of the time.
