Claflin University seeks to hire a highly resourceful faculty member. We invite applications for this 9-month Tenure-Track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. Candidates for this position will be evaluated on their research activities, including publications and grant success, how they will be able to integrate with ongoing research in the Department and across campus, and especially their commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching missions of the Biology Department and Claflin University. The successful candidate will teach lectures and labs and advise students in the Department of Biology, both undergraduate and graduate. The incumbent will develop a program in public health with a focus on health disparities, neuroscience of aging, epidemiology (chronic and infectious diseases), global health, or other related areas. The individual will lead in building a program, including a minor and a certificate, in public health. Expectations include writing and submitting research proposals for funding from external agencies and building a sustainable research program. Faculty responsibilities will be related to undergraduate and graduate research, teaching, faculty development and service to the community. Incumbent will also perform other related duties assigned by the Chair of the Biology Department and the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

The successful candidate will hold an earned Ph.D. in Public Health or closely related field with Post-Doctoral and teaching experience and will join a department committed to providing quality instruction and research opportunities to undergraduate students and graduate students. Candidates should possess evidence of research productivity and potential for attracting external research grants in their field of specialization. Candidate should have a strong background in epidemiology and the use of research tools to study health disparities/community health.

SALARY: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
