The Senior Research Scientist Biologist will join the Early Target Biology group focused on Oncology Resistance at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Cambridge, MA to aide in the advancement of early stage therapeutic targets at the intersection of tumor genetics and tumor immunobiology. The position will utilize cellular, biological and immunological techniques to apply large-scale genomic analyses, outcomes from pooled shRNA and CRISPR screening, and other cutting-edge technologies to identify and validate novel tumor intrinsic targets that confer resistance to targeted and immuno-therapies.
The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, interactive, and creative individual that possesses the ability to work across a highly matrixed environment to advance preclinical programs from target identification/validation through IND enabling activities. The candidate will be expected to effectively collaborate with colleagues in the oncology, immunology, immuno-oncology and genomics groups. The successful candidate will demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication, capable of presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
- A B.S. with a minimum of 10 years, or an M.S. with a minimum of 7 years of industrial experience with strong scientific knowledge and research experience in cancer biology/cellular and molecular immunology is required. Experience in immune-oncology research is a plus.
- Demonstrated independence in experimental design, execution, data analysis and troubleshooting is required.
- Hands on experience with a wide range of in-vitro cellular and biochemical assays, including 2D and 3D cell culture, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, development of reporter assays, qPCR, molecular cloning, lentivirus generation and transduction, incucyte, immune fluorescence staining is required.
- Use of shRNA, CRISPR, or other genome editing techniques to interrogate cellular phenotypes is essential
- Any experience using cell-based methods to interrogate protein function such as CRISPR tiling, mutational scanning, deletion mapping, and knock-in of tags at endogenous gene loci is highly desired.
- Proficiency in the analysis and understanding of immune cell phenotype and function, immune cell culture, immune molecules, and secreted proteins is a plus but not essential.
- Experience with MSD cytokine assay development and data analysis is a plus but not essential.
- Working knowledge of multi-color FACS and data analysis and interpretation is highly desirable.
- Experience with ex vivo pharmacology (e.g. histoculture) is a plus but not essential
- Experience in cancer genome data mining through use of desktop tools/interfaces and public databases (e.g., CBIO, TCGA, CCLE, Genepattern etc) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in utilizing software such as Graph Pad, flow Jo, Microsoft office etc. for data analysis and figure generation is required.
- Ability to mentor more junior scientists and colleagues on best practices in the laboratory would be highly valued.
- Attention to detail with excellent organizational and record keeping skills is a requirement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally is required.
