Abbvie is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, lab-based Senior Scientist with expertise working with biologics engineering and characterization to join the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) group in Drug Discovery Science and Technology Department. The successful candidate will independently design and implement experiments to validate BBB target, screen biologics in in vitro assays, and investigate biologics drug biology. The successful candidate will participate in matrixed project teams and will interface closely with members of other biologics groups and with neuroscience therapeutic area colleagues to design, screen and optimize innovative biologics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute in vitro binding and functional assays and utilize versatile systems including FACS and imaging for screening and characterization of biologics
- Design, engineer, produce and characterize bispecific antibodies
- Demonstrate scientific initiative by investigating new ideas or technologies
- Conceive and implement experiments to validate targets, address scientific questions, and drive project advancement.
- Built strong relationship with interdisciplinary functional and therapeutic areas and develop productive collaborations and communications with partners
- Maintain accurate and timely records of research and project activity in electronic notebook
Qualifications
Requirements:
- PhD (0-4+ years), M.S. (8-10+ years), or B.S. (10-12+ years) in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, or related field with relevant academic/pharmaceutical industry experience
- Expertise in standard molecular / cellular biology and biochemistry techniques
- Expertise in developing in vitro cell-based assays for characterization of biologics.
- Expertise in protein engineering including design, production, and characterization.
- Outstanding organizational and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to work across functions and across sites,
- Established record of independent and innovative research as evidenced by publications and presentations.
- Knowledge and experience in biologics drug discovery is a plus
