We are seeking a skilled 2nd shift lab technician to join our talented microbiology lab quality control team. Beauty Quest Group's Rantoul manufacturing facility processes, fills and packages a wide variety of quality premium brand liquid and aerosol personal care products. Our Rantoul Distribution Center warehouses and distributes a wide variety of personal care products and appliances.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Microbiology Lab Technician to join our talented Microbiology Lab Quality Control team.

The Microbiology Lab Technician is responsible for performing routine microbiology lab procedures and related laboratory work in support of all aspects of microbiology lab activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform designated laboratory procedures according to established protocols on raw materials and finished product.
  • Document all laboratory work by accurately recording completed microbiological test results.
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary lab media, supplies and solutions in proper quantities.
  • Create templates and maintain spreadsheets to track micro lab data trends and environmental testing.
  • Read and interpret microbiological test results.
  • Report all data inconsistent with specifications to Microbiology Manager.
  • Sample plant water system weekly and assist in completion of validation and annual water reports.
  • Monitor, calibrate and ensure preventative maintenance on lab equipment.
  • Perform tests necessary to fulfill validation (cleaning/lab equipment) requirements.
  • Observe for and enforce good hygiene practices, cleanliness and good housekeeping in work areas.
  • Follow all safety rules and safe operating procedures.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, SOPs and GMPs
  • Cross-train and perform backup for co-workers and paperwork processing when necessary.
  • Update test methods and procedures as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as directed or assigned by Microbiology Manager.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EDUCATION:
  • Degree in Microbiology / Natural Sciences with microbiology coursework and labs required.
  • Hands-on experience working in a micro lab environment required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniques.
  • Ability to follow detailed directions and perform procedures accurately and efficiently; work independently and with a team; maintain good working relationship with other staff.
  • Possess excellent time management skills and work with minimal supervision.
