The Project Manager reports to the Managing Director, EDF+Business and plays a key role in the success of EDF's work with companies on climate change. The Project Manager will support EDF's work to speed and scale corporate climate leadership by supporting our work by project managing partnerships and collaborations and advancing the use of carbon markets and high quality carbon credits to achieve near-term climate outcomes. The Project Manager works closely with the communications staff of EDF+Business, policy experts and with EDF's Climate and Office of Chief Scientist programs to achieve these goals.

This is a two-year fixed term position and can be based in San Francisco, Washington, DC, Boston, Raleigh, Austin, or New York city.

  • Project manage corporate partnerships
  • Help develop strategy and work plans for partnerships;
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings that advance the work;
  • Write progress reports and outputs as needed for communications and funding, ensuring that partnerships are on track to deliver the outcomes needed;
  • Manage contractors including outlining scope of work, communicating timelines and expectations, setting up contracts, scheduling practice sessions and collecting feedback;
  • Coordinate with other staff at EDF, leveraging internal expertise and thought leadership to advance the work;
  • Communicate expectations clearly both internally and externally
  • Coordinate EDF's corporate work on carbon credits
    • Outreach to companies
    • Support for collaborative efforts advancing the use of carbon credits for forest protection and other outcomes, continually driving collaborating companies toward ambitious environmental outcomes
    • Research to support EDF's carbon markets strategy and companies
    • Coordinate with other staff at EDF, ensuring that our work with companies advances the best science and policy outcomes
    • Communicate expectations clearly both internally and externally
  • Coordinate EDF's corporate collaborations at the forefront of Corporate Climate Leadership, such as the Transform to Net Zero effort
    • Research, information gathering and analysis to support collaborations
    • Manage contractors including outlining scope of work, communicating timelines and expectations, setting up contracts, scheduling practice sessions and collecting feedback;
    • Coordinate internally
  • Writing - blog posts and funder communications
  • Track and evaluate program results and key metrics by working independently and with team members to collect information using Excel, surveys, Salesforce and other methods.
  • Build internal and external relationships that establish the Project Manager as an expert and leader in the sector, allowing for effective participation in team discussions and with stakeholders. This includes articulating project goals and keeping the team in sync on progress and desired results.
  • Develop work plans, negotiate project agreements and scopes of work, identify and procure necessary resources, and manage project work and deliverables.
  • In addition to these responsibilities, the Project Manager will play an integral role in other activities including fundraising, project evaluation, identifying new opportunities, thought-leadership development, and disseminating and communicating sector results.


  • We are seeking a highly organized and analytical self-starter with an academic or professional background in the business and/or environmental sectors;
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, environmental studies or relevant field; master's degree preferred;
  • 4+ years of work experience;
  • Strong project management skills including demonstrated ability to use independent judgement to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload;
  • Confidence and reliability in independently solving problems and making decisions;
  • Participates in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
  • Strong proficiency in the use of PCs, the Microsoft Office suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint), database programs, and;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience, and excellent ability to build strategic relationships;
  • Strong leadership skills and aptitude for delegating tasks on complex projects;
  • Basic knowledge of the business implications of environmental issues, building energy efficiency, and climate and energy policy;
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative and geographically dispersed team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • A utility player who can be flexible with changing job responsibilities, adjust or pivot as necessary to challenges, and is willing learn new skills if necessary;
  • Willingness to travel once deemed safe.
