AECOM is seeking a Geologist in the Long Beach, CA area to support consulting Project Field and Office Support for Site Assessment and Remediation Projects. Will perform field sampling activities and become proficient with field instrumentation and equipment. Interested candidates will work on interesting, fast-paced projects with the opportunity to learn and expand skills and may be performed in a variety of environmental settings. Willingness to learn and become proficient in project management skills experience with soil, groundwater and soil, gas assessments.

Responsibilities are including, but not limited to:
  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Analytical data analysis, report preparation, evaluation of assessment/remediation alternatives, and data summaries will be required. Field sampling for soil, soil vapor and groundwater is required

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS + 2 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
  • Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
  • Valid Driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in geology, geological sciences or hydrogeology with broad coursework in the sciences (some chemistry preferred)
  • Ability and eagerness to perform field activities and work under the direction of a senior geologist. Good written and communication skills.
  • 2 to 5 years of consulting Project Field and Office Support for Site Assessment and Remediation Projects.
