Microbiology Laboratory Associate- Melville NY 11747

2nd shift- 3pm to 11:30pm

No Experience Required

Pay: $16.75/hour

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• The Microbiology Laboratory Associate conducts microbiology testing on raw materials, in process materials and finished products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Aseptically performs microbiology sampling, plating, and testing of samples daily and meticulously follow all SOP's and laboratory methods. Daily, check and record temperature of all refrigerators, freezers, and water baths in the Microbiology department.

• Maintains a clean and sterilized laboratory environment.

PREFERRED, but not required skills:

• Verify and record calibration of the top load balance used to weigh samples. Maintain proper record keeping for media preparation, the autoclaves, pH. Perform regular maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments by inspecting, calibrating, cleaning, or sterilizing.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• BS degree in Biology, Microbiology or Biochemistry

• Good conceptual basis in biology with proven ability to perform basic microbiology techniques. Excellent organizational skills - ability to use your time, energy, resources, etc. in an effective manner.

• Basic computer skills, manual dexterity. Ability to distinguish colors and stand for prolonged periods.
