Princeton Postdoctoral Researcher: Biodiversity Conservation

The Center for Policy Research on Energy and the Environment at Princeton University invites applications for a postdoctoral or more senior researcher to conduct research related to biodiversity conservation, with a particular focus on work that is focused on using ecology and the social sciences to discover practical policy solutions to particular conservation issues.

These positions report to Professor David S. Wilcove (see www.princeton.edu/~dwilcove) in the following areas of research:

(1) Conservation of declining migratory birds that utilize the East Asian-Australasian Flyway.  Special consideration will be given to applicants interested in studying the stopover ecology of migratory shorebirds along the China coast and who have field experience working with shorebirds in this region. This work will be done in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology.

(2) Socio-economic analysis of the wild-animal trade, with a focus on understanding the drivers of the trade in understudied species (excluding elephants, tigers, etc.). A doctorate in economics is desirable, as is experience doing research related to biodiversity conservation.

(3) Analysis of natural climate solutions that can be employed in Southeast Asia to simultaneously mitigate global climate change and conserve biodiversity. This work will be done in collaboration with the Center for Natural Climate Solutions at the National University of Singapore.

These research positions are open to all regardless of citizenship, and do not support work towards the completion of a degree. A PhD is required. Salary and full employee benefits are offered in accordance with University guidelines.
