Professor and Department Head of Ecosystem Science and Management

 

The Department of Ecosystem Science and Management at The Pennsylvania State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Professor and Department Head. The new department head will play a key role in developing the future growth of an interdisciplinary faculty that focuses on ecology and management of natural resources with an emphasis on applications in forestry, wildlife, fisheries, water, soils, and agriculture. The Department seeks a dynamic and innovative leader who is dedicated to promoting excellence in our diverse teaching, research, and extension missions at this land-grant institution. The successful candidate will be expected to have a broad vision for the Department and be committed to enhancing the strength and cohesiveness of its programmatic areas. The candidate will be expected to contribute to College- and University-wide strategic planning initiatives and exhibit a strong focus on students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the candidate's ability to articulate, build broad support, and cultivate fundraising opportunities by working closely with College development staff for new initiatives will be valued. The candidate is expected to qualify for appointment with tenure by demonstrating an exceptional record of scholarship in a field encompassed by the Department's diverse faculty expertise (http://www.ecosystems.psu.edu). Previous experience in academic, administrative or professional leadership, and the ability to actively support and promote the College's diversity goals within the department is a requirement.
