Adirondack Park Invasive Program Manager, New York Division

The Adirondack Park Invasive Program (APIPP) Manager coordinates and collaborates with partner organizations and the New York State’s Invasive Species Management Program to develop and advance a comprehensive invasive species management program, strategic plan, and conservation project portfolio for the 7+ million-acre Adirondack Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM).  This position is a member of the New York Lands Team who also works closely with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.  The work of this position will help to protect terrestrial and freshwater resources of the Adirondacks for people and nature to preserve critical habitat, and to ensure this landscape remains resilient in the face of invasive species threats and climate change.

We are looking for a proven leader and problem solver with excellent people skills and experience building effective partnerships.  The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and support relating to invasive species prevention and management for the Program and to the region.  They build partnerships with supporting organizations, affected stakeholders, and the public to advance holistic solution s for addressing invasive species impacts.  This position requires in-depth knowledge of invasive species and work experience.  We appreciate collaborate approaches and encourage innovative ideas and recommendations.  

The ideal candidate will have a background and track record that includes: 

•          BA/BS degree and 5 years’ experience in conservation practice or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•          Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including staffing, workloads and finances under deadlines

•          Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance

•          Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups and/or government agencies.

•          Experience negotiating complex agreements.

•          Current driver’s license.
