The Department of Wildland Resources (WILD) in the S.J. & Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for the position of Professor and Department Head. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment on the Logan campus, starting July 1, 2020. We are seeking candidates with excellent scholarly credentials and a strong commitment to interdisciplinary terrestrial ecosystem science to provide vision, leadership, and expert administration for the department. A tenure review will be conducted for the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
- The Department Head is the principal administrative and academic officer of the department and provides leadership and administration for the research, teaching, extension, and service functions of the department.
- The Head reports directly to the Dean of the college. S/he also has important interactions with the Vice President for Extension and the Directors of the USU Ecology Center and the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station.
- The Head’s responsibilities include promotion of quality graduate and undergraduate academic programs, oversight of departmental budgets, mentoring and evaluation of a diverse faculty, fostering strong ties to natural resource and granting agencies, and maintaining effective relationships with upper administration.
- The Head is expected to maintain an active research and/or extension program.
