Working with the Senior Programme team managers in Education, Conservation and Alternative Livelihood programmes, you will strengthen local programme quality and effectiveness evaluation and processes. You will build evidence and learning processes for both early stage pilot projects and more established programmes, in preparation for refinement and scaleability, in line with the robust impact measurement requirements from the Senior Leadership Team and sophisticated funding partners. You will improve the quality of M&E systems at the project level, and ensure that this learning is put into practice. This is an exciting opportunity to devise new approaches to monitoring, evaluation and learning in a developing country context, enabling Marine Megafauna Foundation to implement best practice systems for sustainable programme impact. This will then be used to replicate projects in other global locations where marine research and conservation activities are being delivered by our teams.

Required skills/experience
You will be suitable for this position if you gather the following requirements
• Degree, or equivalent work experience, in international development, conservation, NGO programme management, research or equivalent
• Excellent understanding of monitoring and evaluation, as well as knowledge management and learning, and will have substantial practical experience of designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating frameworks in developing countries
• Proven project manager and initiative-taker
• Practical experience using evidence-based learning to improve project implementation and design
• Practical experience leading evaluation research, using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods
• Practical experience collecting qualitative and quantitative data in developing countries
• Exceptional self-motivation, communication and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills, to diplomatically engage with a range of stakeholders on key activities
• Practical experience in the field of education, development, livelihoods or conservation
• An understanding of sophisticated donor requirements and reporting

Desirable skills/experience
● Fluency in Portuguese
● Experience living and working in Africa or other less developed country

Responsibilities
• Design, implement and quality assure and strengthen monitoring and evaluation systems
• Assess multi-country comparative research and case studies to fill key evidence gaps
• Build monitoring, evaluation and learning capacity of country and project staff
• Develop a structure to capture and evaluate the data
• Engage with diverse internal and external stakeholders to share learning and advocate for best practice around learning and evidence in the sector

Additional Information
