Job Description

Objective

The Mission of the Department of Biology, Ecology and Conservation at St. George’s University is to provide students with a quality and comprehensive science education to prepare them for a range of professional endeavors and/ or graduate studies. Through provision of an engaging science curriculum that utilizes experiential learning in the laboratory and in the field, we support the development of high quality scientists and scholars.

Essential Functions

Instructional Activities

Participate in the following University activities:

  • Course Director and Instructor of an upper level course in Ornithology
  • Course Director and Instructor of an upper level course in Ecology related fields
  • Develop and deliver an upper level course in their field of expertise to include population ecology and modeling of marine and/or terrestrial organism; Geographical Information  System Technologies (GIS); natural resource management and/or biostatistics
  • Contribute to curriculum development and assessment of department programs
  • Contribute to new student orientation activities
  • Contribute to student academic advising 

Research and Scholarly Activities

Actively engage in  research and scholarly activity in their field of expertise that involves undergraduate students

Service

Participate in the following University activities:

  • Faculty Senate
  • Departmental Meetings (when required)
  • Departmental Faculty evaluations (when required)
  • Special Committee Assignments (as assigned by the Provost, Dean or Department)
  • Outreach efforts in the local community
